Imagine a place where kids could go after school that’s designed for their needs.

With the new Boys & Girls Club in Moses Lake, ample space would be available for a wider selection of games, programs and activities.

The club’s two locations in Moses Lake were originally built for different purposes. One clubhouse is a downtown storefront and the other is a former Air Force building.

The downtown building measures 4,000 square feet and the other club location comes to 3,000 square feet.

It’s why a larger, 10,000-square-foot building is being proposed.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin Downtown Clubhouse undergoes renovations in honor of Jon Lane.  Ten years ago Jon Lanes heroic actions saved countless lives and as a result of his heroism the Downtown Clubhouse is renovated in Jon’s Honor.  A. Smith Production Company is filming a new television show that puts the spotlight on a hero and gives the community a chance to thank that individual for their actions.  The production company was going to buy Jon a gift and when he found out about the surprise he turned it down.  He wanted to make sure the ‘kids’ where taken care of.  As a result of this the production company turned to the Boys & Girls Club, where over 100 kids a day participate in youth development activities, and decided to update the facility.  With only a $6,500 initial budget the plan was developed to paint the interior of the Club.  Once the community found out about the project the Club ended up with much more than just new paint on the walls.  The community pitched in and devoted time, treasures and talents to the project and transformed the Club.
